Fallen Heroes

Published by Michael under General

I am still in shock from the death of the nine firefighters here in Charleston this week. All of them were brave men and I cannot believe the tragedy. On personal note, one of those fallen was a friend of mine. Mike Benke was a great all around guy and I will miss him. But, and the sad thing is, his family will miss him more. He leaves behind a son the same age as my son, a daughter the same age as my daughter, and a wife who is an overworked nurse. I am saddened beyond belief — and proud to have known him.

I know that his family, like the families of all the firefighters, will need all of the support and help they can get. So I am just asking please, do what you can. For a list of ways to help out, please check here.

Volleyball!

Published by Michael under General

OK, so it isn’t me playing. You really wouldn’t want that, now would you? But this past weekend the pro-volleyball players were here in town at the Family Circle Cup tennis facility. I have some pictures posted from the qualifying rounds on Thursday. Those are right here.

I also went back on Saturday for the semi-finals, but I haven’t put those pictures up yet. I will do so as soon as I sort through them.
