Hillary – Seeing the Truth

Published by Michael at 9:44 am under Politics

A lot of people like Hillary Clinton. My wife is one of them. But, I think that what you saw in the debates last night is a key insight into her character. She went on a mean spirited attack, and I think that is really what she is like. You, and I, may agree with many of her viewpoints and policies, but it is the nature of her personality that cause you pause. She is just not an agreeable person and it gives us pause to questions the real nature of her motivations.

Also, she said that you need to have experience to make the change that the US people want. But it was Albert Einstein who said, “Insanity is doing the same thing, over and over again, but expecting different results.” So, how can someone who has been in the system for over 35 years, who makes her living in the system, and who lives and dies by the system really be the instrument of that system’s change. I for one would rather give a try to someone with less experience. That also translates into less baggage, less favors owed, and less ties to special interest.

The Republicans, as might be expected, spent the evening mainly attacking Mitt Romney. No real surprises there or new revelations. The only striking thing is that they started talking about how they would campaign against Barack Obama instead of Hillary Clinton. Maybe they, like many others, are starting to see that she isn’t the shoe-in people thought she was.

That about says it for me. There is just so much baggage with Senator Clinton. I don’t know how you can govern differently and be a Clinton.

Exactly. She says she has been changing for 35 years. That either means she is wishy-washy or more likely, that she doesn’t know what real change means and how to bring it about.

I should have my fiance come read this…he is heavily interested in politics. He’s not a fan of Hillary either, and you make a great point that I’m sure he’d agree with. The other part that he truly feels will be her downfall is that she’s just too polarizing of a figure. People either love her or hate her, and converting either group would be very hard at this point.

Sometimes I tend to feel people with less experience can be a very good thing, particularly in such a broken political system. I feel like the country is craving a fresh blood with a renewed outlook, but they’re really scared to give those people a chance.

It’s kind of like trying to get a job out of college. Companies want innovative thinkers, but they want you to have experience. Sometimes the two are mutually exclusive.

Susan, send that fiance on! I would love to hear what he has to say. And for the record, from what you say I agree with him. She is just so polarizing, and that will really motivate the opposition.
