Let Your (Candlelight) Shine
Recently, as I began my journey into meditation, I started looking at two things to aid in that - music and candles. I am still searching for the perfect music and I knew it was going to be a search due to the vast varieties out there, but I was surprised to find out that there are some really interesting candles out there.
I always thought that all candles were just wax or paraffin, but riding a wave of popularity, the common soy bean is gaining ground against popular petroleum based candle wax. Bio-degradable and already accepted as a reusable energy source, the legume is quickly growing acceptance among candle lovers everywhere! Who would have thought, candles from beans?
One of the companies that I came across that makes these new candles is Caterpillars Creations. It looks like their Soy Candles appeal to those searching for a longer lasting candle as well as something that fits in with the current desire for greener lifestyles. These really nice candles are available as soy tealights, soy votives, soy jar candles and natural pillars. With all those different varieties, there seems to be an appropriate choice for every candle-lover.
I am not always a fan of fragranced candles as they sometimes trigger my allergies, but according to the companies president, Jenn Anderson, “Everyone who loves fragrance will be a prime candidate for one of our candles.”
According to the company’s site, these natural soy candles “feature top-shelf fragrances based in all natural vegetable oil, not traditional liquid petroleum based fragrance. Caterpillars Soy candles last three times longer than petroleum-based candles, have an incredible scent throw with virtually no black soot.” As someone who has had some trouble with some very sooty candles in the past, that last point is extremely welcome.
You can order these candles on line and buy them through your local shops. And, if you are a shop that carries such things but doesn’t have these, they have a great line of wholesale soy candles for your business!
Let me know what you think about these if you have tried them. I am always interested in your feedback.
