Vegas Culture?

Published by Michael at 8:33 am under Reviews, Travel

When most people think about Nevada entertainment and events they think about Las Vegas. And then they think about what stays in Vegas. But what about Henderson. Huh? Where the heck is Henderson, Nevada you ask? And why should you care?

Henderson NevadaFirst of all, Henderson is only minutes away from Las Vegas. The City of Henderson, Nevada offers “the ultimate in resort destinations for both business and pleasure. Nestled among three of the most renowned man-made attractions in the world, Henderson is ideally situated amid the glamorous Las Vegas Strip, the engineering marvel of the Hoover Dam, and the tranquil beauty of Lake Mead.” So, if you are looking for Las Vegas special events, you may really be looking at Henderson.

Beyond the casino type shows, Henderson is a great source for Las Vegas arts and entertainment. The Department of Cultural Arts and Tourism’s mission is to provide a broad range of cultural and artistic opportunities for our community through the sponsorship of concerts, performances, visual arts exhibits, festivals and civic events at various locations throughout the city of Henderson.

Check out their site, and you will find a ton of good information about things going on in the area. Additionally there is information about grants and other programs to help the artists and performers. So even if you are familiar with Vegas, you might want to give the Henderson site a check. Even residents of the are who are looking for additional outlets, both personal and professional, would do well to have a look.

As for me? I just want a vacation and a chance to get out there!

It really does sound like a cool place, and a lot less tacky than the Strip!
